Hiking in Revelstoke offers some of the most spectacular scenery and lots of peace and quiet. Here you won’t encounter masses of wannabee hikers and urbanites.

A variety of self guided trails leads right from Glacier House Hotel & Resort.  From easy walks to a waterfall to strenuous full day hikes, there are trails for every-one. A map of some of our favorite hikes is available at the front desk. Bring your dog, as we are a Pet friendly property.

Guided hikes are available daily on request and explore the high alpine of some of our favorite mountains.

Self Guided Hikes
Glacier Hike 1.5 km
A short 1.5 km trail leads around the property boundary.

Look Out Trail  1.5-2 kms - Strenuous
 
A short powerful hike up the bluffs to the south. Great views of the valley and the occasional black bear on the slopes.

Moses Waterfall / Spawning Channel  3-4 kms - Easy
 
A relatively easy hike takes you down through the forests in 25 minutes to the gorgeous Moses Falls that tumble down in a narrow forested canyon. Best time is June and early July for massive water in the falls and in September when the Moses Creek Spawning Channel is visited by thousands of Kokanee and Dolly Varden, who come here to lay their eggs. A 45 minute walking trail up hill brings you back to the lodge.  Good hiking shoes recommended.

Dam Trails  3-8 kms – Easy
 
Easy flat trails go from the lodge to the north and close to the Revelstoke Dam.

Mountain Trails  3-10 kms- Varied
 
A number of trails from 3 to 10 Km lead up from the lodge onto Frisby Ridge. A spectacular guided hiking half day or day trip is offered on Frisby Ridge including spectacular helicopter assisted hiking in the alpine. Rugged peaks are all around you as you hike through alpine flowered meadows
 

Enjoy a relative easy walk down to the Columbia River and the impressive Moses falls. Your walk leads though small trails down to the river where you have ample time to enjoy and take pictures of one of Revelstoke’s best hidden secrets. The return walk is a bit more strenuous, as we are now gaining some 250 ft elevation over the course of appr. 2 kms. Good walking shoes recommended.  Guide, and drink included.

Beautiful wildflowers bloom in the alpine meadows starting around the beginning of August. Great for photography, as Indian Paint brush and lilies are abundant. Cascading waterfalls, hidden alpine lakes, and gardens of rock complete the scenic surroundings of this hike. With sensational views of the Selkirk and Monashee Mountain ranges, easy rolling alpine terrain, this area offers truly one of the most rewarding day-hikes of the Columbia Mountains. Enjoy lunch in our alpine cabin ‘Glacier Station’.

Guided hikes are available to a number of our local mountains. Hikes vary on weather conditions, clients interests and abilities. Lunch and transportation included. All hikes require reservations.

Our helicopter will take us to the alpine beauty of the Frisby Ridge, a scenic 10 min flight.  From here we wander through alpine meadows, enjoying views of snowy peaks, only interrupted by the whistles of hoary marmots. Lunch is enjoyed at a small alpine lake and our alpine cabin ‘Glacier Station’, before we hike down the mountain to our rendez vous point for our return by vehicle to the Glacier House Resort.

Experience the beauty and remoteness of the Gold Range in the Monashee Mountains. Depart from Glacier House Resort for a stunning half hour helicopter-flight across the mountain peaks and glaciers of the Monashee Mountains. We land near a small alpine lake and wander though the meadows (alpine flowers are best mid to late August), enjoying the tranquility of the high mountains.
